This year's 26th anniversary celebration of the University of Opole will be preceded by a mass which will be held on Monday, 9 March 2020 at 6 pm in the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows and St. Adalbert in Opole, called the church 'On the Hill'. The mass will be celebrated by Rev. Professor Andrzej Czaja, Bishop of the Diocese of Opole. 

On 10 March at 11 a.m., in the Blue Hall of Collegium Maius, a ceremony to confer the honorary doctorate of the University of Opole on Prof. Lech Borowiec, an outstanding biologist of world renown, will take place.

The ceremony will be opened by the Rector of the Opole University, Professor Marek Masnyk. The proceedings of conferring the honorary doctorate of the University of Opole on Professor Lech Borowiec will be presented by the Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology, Dr Małgorzata Rajfur, and the laudation speech will be delivered by Professor Tadeusz Zatwarnicki.

The culminating point of the ceremony will be the reading of the Doctoral Diploma by the Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology and its handing over to Prof. Lech Borowiec by the Rector of the UO in the presence of reviewers of the PhD student's achievements: Prof. Dariusz Iwan from the Museum and Institute of Zoology PAS in Warsaw and Prof. Jacek Gorczyca from the University of Silesia in Katowice.

Next, Prof. Lech Borowiec's honorary doctorate speech is planned.

The musical setting of the ceremony will be provided by the academic choir "Dramma per Musica".
