Kickoff Meeting of FORTHEM Consortium
On October 16-18, 2019 the delegation of the University of Opole with: Prof. Izabella Pisarek,Vice-Rector of the UO, Dr Barbara Curyło, Dr Elżbieta Szymańska-Czaplak and Karolina Młotek, MA, took part in the kickoff meeting in Valencia (Spain), inaugurating the work of the FORTHEM consortium, established within the framework of the Erasmus+ project 'European Universities'.
The intensive four-day programme of the meeting brought together the key actors of the seven partner institutions of the alliance: Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, University of Burgundy in France, the University of Jyväskylä in Finland, University of Opole in Poland, University of Palermo in Italy, University of Latvia and University of Valencia in Spain.
During the meeting, there were workshop sessions, tasks were discussed, teams were formed, mechanisms and procedures for individual project activities were developed, and a work schedule for this innovative, debuting program of the central Erasmus+ Programme was developed.
The kickoff meeting of the consortium was officially opened on the second day of intensive work by Her Magnificence María Vicente Mestre, Rector of the University of Valencia.
The meeting in Valencia was a natural continuation of the work started in June 2019, after receiving a grant from the European Commission. Weekly meetings on Skype of consortium members enable regular work on the project and harmonise the process of its implementation at the University of Opole and partner universities.
Students and employees of our university will soon become beneficiaries of project activities, for example by participating in multidisciplinary research laboratories, multidimensional international mobility, as well as by establishing contacts with external partners of the universities belonging to the consortium, which will contribute to a valuable and very important transfer of science-practice knowledge.
