Representatives of our university, Prof. Janusz Słodczyk, Vice-Rector for Research and Finace and Dr Michał Wanke, coordinator of the Section for International Study Programmes, participated in the Polish Educational Mission in Uzbekistan organized by the Polish Embassy in Tashkent and the National Academic Exchange Agency. The delegation from Opole had the opportunity to present our university at a meeting of Polish universities with the authorities of dozens of Uzbekistan universities. The session was chaired by Piotr Iwaszkiewicz, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Tashkent.

The presentation of the UO raised the interest of the Uzbek party. As a result, there were held meetings on bilateral cooperation with several academic centres. Details of the cooperation were discussed with Gulbakhor Alimova, director of the department for international cooperation of the National University of Uzbekistan in Tashkent, Begmatova Dilorom Bakhodirovna, Vice-Rector of the Tashkent State University of Economics,  Mukhriddin Mukhamedov, Director of the International Department of Chirchik State Pedagogical University, Shuhrat Eshankulov, Director of the International Relations Department of Jizzakh State Pedagogical Institute, and Umid Imanazarov, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Tashkent State Pedagogical University. As a result of the talks, detailed bilateral agreements were settled and will be signed soon.

On the last day of the mission, the University of Opole presented its offer as part of the fair promoting universities in Poland. The interest of the Uzbek youth in studying in Poland exceeded the imagination of the organizers and participants of the event. For eight hours, Prof. Słodczyk and Dr Wanke answered questions of those interested in the educational offer of the University of Opole, study conditions and the realities of life in Opole and Poland.
