Famous Ecologist Visiting UO
Prof. Naqinezhada from the University of Mazandaran in Iran concentrates on the forest vegetation of the Hyrannish area and endemism, with particular emphasis on the Alborz mountains (Elburs). He also works in the field of ecology and classification of vegetation of wetlands (hammers, peatbogs) and transitional formations, including predominantly forest steppe.
The scientist delivered a lecture entitled: 'Mountain wetlands of Iran', and then, together with botanists and ecologists from the Institute of Biology of the UO, he conducted workshops on coordination and classification analyses using data collected on peat bogs and hammers of Central Asia and Iran. As a result, a joint publication on the classification of the hammer vegetation and springs of the Iranian-Turanian area will be issued in the near future.
Prof. Alirez Naqinezhad participated in mobility within the Erasmus+ Programme at the Institute of Biology UO, at the invitation of Prof. Arkadiusz Nowak.
At the end of his stay in Opole, Prof. Naqinezhad visited the Museum of the University of Opole, the castle in Moszna and got familiar with the early spring flora in the Pomology Park in Prószków.
