Two Elderly Gentlemen and UO play with Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity
A miniature statue of Jeremi Przybora and Jerzy Wasowski by Prof. Marian Molenda of the Faculty of Art at the University of Opole has been put up for auction at this year's Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. It is a real treat for GOCC donors - art and music lovers!
"The monument is a story, enclosed in bronze, about the meeting of two friends, brilliant artists who made a huge contribution to Polish culture," says Professor Marian Molenda. "Przybora was an excellent poet and Wasowski an excellent composer. Therefore, I took the liberty of seating them on a bench, which has the shape of a piano on one side and is covered with the poet's manuscripts on the other."
The original monument, made of patinated bronze, was erected on the University Hill in 2010, next to monuments to Agnieszka Osiecka, Jerzy Grotowski or Czesław Niemen. The miniature, made of highly durable, dental patinated plaster, was developed a year earlier as a model for the monument. The monument on the hill is about 2.5 metres wide, 1.3 metres high, and one metre deep. Its model was made at a scale of 1:10.
"I hope that for the person who bids it, it will not only be a symbol of support for the beautiful idea of helping others, but also - as it was for me - a tribute to the great artists," emphasises Prof. Molenda.
So place your bids, open your hearts and raise the stakes! The auction, featuring a miniature of the university's monument to Jeremi Przybora and Jerzy Wasowski, runs until 12 February 2023.
