Prof. Lewandowski has passed away

Christian Aaron Lewandowski, PhD, DLitt. Assoc. Prof., known as Tadzio or Tadeusz, passed away on 3 January 2023.

Prof. Lewandowski was an American researcher at the Institute of Literatures at the University of Opole and at the University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. He was the Head of the Department of American Literature and Culture at the UO and taught in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the State University of New York at Alfred.

Born in New York City, Professor Lewandowski moved to Poland in his mid-twenties. He obtained an MA in the United States history from the University of Rochester (1999) and a PhD in American literature from the University of Opole (2009). In 2017, he was granted his habilitation degree.

Prof. Lewandowski was an acknowledged scholar of Native American Cultures. He also conducted research on Polish/English interlingual errors and contemporary language use in the United States.
