Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI has passed away

The academic community of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Opole would like to honour the late Pope Benedict XVI, for whom our academic community - thanks to Archbishop Alfons Nossol - was a special place.  

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger attended the inauguration of the academic year 2000/2001 at the UO Faculty of Theology. It was a special moment to express our gratitude for the fact that, thanks to his positive opinion, the Congregation for Catholic Education agreed to establish the Faculty of Theology in Opole in 1994. Cardinal Ratzinger himself, in his speech, referred to the issue of the then-published declaration “Dominus Iesus”, clearly emphasising that Christ is the absolute Truth, the Gift of God given to all mankind, and not an invention of the West or the East.
