A series of meetings on evidence-based management took place on 17-19.10.2022, kicking off the collaboration between the UO and foreign partners in this field. On Monday, students and academic teachers from five UO faculties attended a presentation entitled 'Evidence-based management: what it is, why we need it and how it looks like in practice'.

The seminar was conducted by Dr Eric Barends, Director of CEBMa, and Prof. Denise Rousseau from Carnegie Mellon University. The discussion among academic teachers on integrating elements of EBM into student teaching was also attended by guests of the UO - Prof. Frank Bezzina and Prof. Vincent Cassar from the University of Malta, Dr Pavel Taraba and Dr Zuzana Vaculčíková from the University of Zlín, and Prof. Katarzyna Tracz-Krupa and Dr Gabriela Strzelec from Wrocław University of Economics. The University of Opole was represented by its vice-rectors, Prof. Izabella Pisarek and Prof. Rafał Matwiejczuk. On Tuesday, a meeting was held for representatives of local business; in attendance were the First Vice-Mayer of the City of Opole, Maciej Wujec, and the First Vice-Rector of the UO, Prof. Jacek Lipok. The event was organised under the patronage of the Mayor of Opole, Arkadiusz Wisniewski  On Wednesday, directions and forms of further cooperation were discussed.

We are in regular contact with our guests, who provided UO teachers with a demo version of the course discussed at the meetings, to try out as part of their classes with students. We have scheduled an on-line meeting in January for a group interested in developing collaboration, both in introducing elements of EBM into academic teaching and research. In February, a second series of on-line meetings will be held to share past experiences and forms of further collaboration.
