UO students at Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz
Project participants from the UO
At the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, sociology, biology and biochemistry students from the University of Opole worked in an international team to strengthen public awareness of the threat of superbugs.
From 26 to 30 September 2022, sociology, biology and biotechnology students, together with Dr Iwona Sobieraj and Dr Karolina Kupis, took part in an international student project, implemented as part of the Forthem Alliance, on raising public awareness of the threat of superbugs.
The project is a continuation of an international project initiated by Professor Belén Fouz and Professor Sergi Macias (Department of Microbiology and Ecology, Faculty of Biology) of the University of Valencia (UV). Under the project carried out by the students from Opole, almost twenty students from four partner universities took part in the activities in Mainz.
All students took part in self-prepared workshops on raising awareness of the dangers of inappropriate antibiotic use, in designing research tools needed to study attitude change, and in practical laboratory activities. As part of their stay in Mainz, the tutors also participated in meetings and workshops on planning and carrying out future activities.
