Doctoral and Postdoctoral Award Ceremony

32 new doctors and eight habilitaded doctors have been promoted in accordance with the academic ceremony.

- There are three very important events which set the rhythm of work of our University: the first is the launch of a new academic year and the matriculation of students, the second is the University Day on 10 March of each year - celebration of the establishment of the University of Opole and the third, such as today's celebration – day of university science, day of the scientific harvest – said the Rector of the UO, Professor. Marek Masnyk. - You are entering the world of science with its principles and high standards. We not only expect from you but we demand from you to fulfil them. Congratulations to you for your personal success. We are proud of you!

Congratulations to young scientists were also submitted also  Violetta Porowska, Deputy Voivode, who said: - You are the pride of the University, but also the pride of our region, which, I believe, will become a Polish Silicon Valley.

New doctors solemnly took their vows, which bound them to perform a fair job as researchers and to respect the University, at which they perform this work.

The doctors heard the vows read in Latin by Prof. Marek Lis and finished them with a sentence ‘We pledge and we promise’, also in Latin.

The diplomas were handed by the Rector, accompanied by Vice-Rector, Prof. Wiesława Piątkowska-Stepaniak, Vice-Rector, Izabella Pisarek, deans and supervisors.

It was Dr habil Marek Białokur who, on behalf of new doctors and habilitated doctors, delivered an appreciation speech. - I would like to thank Rectors, Deans, and supervisors. I would like to thank our families: parents, grandparents, husbands and wives and children for their support, and enduring our whims and hours and hours of our sitting in reading rooms, archives or in front of monitors, - he said.

The ceremony also included the handing over the awards granted to employees of the UO by the President of Poland, and to outstanding students by the Rector of the UO.

Music was provided by the University Choir ‘Dramma per musica’ conducted by Dr Elizabeth Trylnik.
