UO Students' Research Highly Valued
Papers prepared by students of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science will be published by the IEEE Computer Society, whose journals are indexed by Thomson Reuters.
Our students had an opportunity to present their research projects at the IEEE INTECH conference in 2016. The projects are supervised by Dr. Jolanta Mizera-Pietraszko. The first of the papers was presented by Sebastian Grabowski and it was entitled PORE Algorithm for Object Recognition in Photo Layers based on Parametric Characteristics of the Object Edges. It was highly praised at the conference, and scientists dealing with image processing suggested further research directions.
The second project, on the multilingual information retrieval, was presented by Tomasz Machalewski - Extraction of Medical Terms for Word Sense Disambiguation within Multilingual Framework.
All the papers, together with Dr Jolanta Mizera-Pietraszko’s lecture Translignual Text Mining for identification of Language Pair Phenomena, will be published by the IEEE Computer Society.
The IEEE Computer Society is the world's leading membership organization dedicated to computer science and technology. Its publications are peer-reviewed, indexed, and authored by technology thought leaders worldwide, and include 17 scholarly journals and 13 magazines featuring the latest technology trends.
