3rd Vocational Forum of the Faculty of Philology
During the 3rd Vocational Forum Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Professor Andrzej Ciuk and Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science, Professor Jacek Nickel received from the representative of the IBM Management Board, Director Stanislaw Cieśla The Agreement on cooperation between the University of Opole and IBM. On behalf of the University, the agreement was signed by the Rector-elect, Professor Marek Masnyk. According to the agreement the IBM company, world leader in new information technologies, will support the organization of traineeships and internships for students and graduates of the University of Opole, and help the Academic Careers Service organise trainings for students, present opinions on academic programmes and contents of courses, contribute to the development of practical aspect of university education. IBM will also support research conducted at the University and a representative of the company will be able to participate in the meetings of the Economic Council operating at the University of Opole. In addition, students of the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science will be informed about job opportunities in IBM centres.
The first event following the agreement was IBM Day at the University of Opole, during which students of both faculties learnt about IBM business profile, found out how some IBM products operate, what technologies are supported by the company, what channels of information and what software is used for internal communication, and what innovation really is about - all that knowledge was provided by IBM specialists. Students learnt also about a wide range of jobs offered by one of the most important global companies in the IT industry. The cooperation between IBM and the University of Opole can be very fruitful for both partners.
