Programme Board for the Medical Study Programme Established

'It is a historic meeting for our University, our region and local science' – said Professor Nicieja, Rector of the University of Opole, welcoming distinguished representatives of the Opole medical milieu. Several dozens of doctors will constitute the Programme Board for the Medical Study Programme of the University of Opole. The meeting was a symbolic act of establishing Faculty of Medicine at the University of Opole.

The Rector appointed Professor Marcin Kamiński, former Rector of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice as the Chairman of the Board and Professor Wiesława Piątkowska-Stepaniak, Vice-Rector for Public Relations and Administration, who is in charge of the project of establishing the Faculty of Medicine, nominated other members of the Board.

After the official part of the meeting the newly-formed Board started their first working session. Medical study programme at the University of Opole is expected to be opened in the academic year of 2017/2018.
