A cooperation agreement was signed by the Gallery of Contemporary Art and the University of Opole on 22 July 2021. The ceremonial meeting took place in the Senate Hall of Collegium Maius. The Rector of the University of Opole, Prof. Marek Masnyk, and the Director of the Gallery of Contemporary Art, Joanna Filipczyk, put their signatures to the document in the presence of the Mayor of Opole, Arkadiusz Wiśniewski and the Dean of the Faculty of Art, Prof. Bartosz Posacki.

”This is an important moment for us, as an academic community,” said Rector Masnyk. “Above all, however, it is important for Dean Bartosz Posacki, as the signing of the agreement opens up even wider possibilities for cooperation between the Faculty of Art and the Gallery of Contemporary Art. We are very happy that our contacts, which are already quite long, because they started at the time of the Institute of Art, which was transformed into the Faculty of Art a few years ago, will be further developed.”

Dean Posacki emphasised that the actual cooperation with the Gallery of  Contemporary Art has already lasted 21 years and has been very close, as evidenced by the exhibition of diploma works by this year's graduates of the Faculty of Arts, which is currently on display in the gallery. “Now that this cooperation has been formalised with the symbolic signing of the agreement, which gives more possibilities to both parties than before, such as joint efforts to obtain grants for various projects,” he added.

Joanna Filipczyk, Director of the Gallery of Contemporary Art, emphasised that the agreement applies not only to the Faculty of Art, but to all the units of the University of Opole and will cover artistic, scientific, teaching and promotional areas. “I hope that numerous artistic friendships will also be formed on the grounds of art," she noted.

“The city and its institutions are a system of connected vessels, and this system will only function efficiently if the cooperation between individual units and the surrounding environment is good,” said Mayor Arkadiusz Wiśniewski. “That is why I am very pleased with the signing of this agreement, because it will allow for an even richer introduction of art into the city environment.”
