The University of Opole has received a subsidy of over PLN 3.2 million from the Ministry of Education and Science for the modernisation of Niechcic Hall. The modernisation is aimed at adapting residential modules to the sanitary standards relating to the Covid 19 epidemic and current regulations.

Modernisation will include bathrooms and kitchens, and further measures will be taken to reduce direct contact between people in quarantine or isolation by modernising the ICT network.

The project, co-financed by the Ministry of Education and Science, will fully incorporate the principles of functioning in pandemic conditions already implemented throughout the university.

The modernisation of the Niechcic facilities which are crucial for maintaining safety and health will provide greater convenience for the building's residents and employees, and limit the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and other pathogens.

The adaptation of Niechcic Hall to sanitary requirements will also allow the building to be prepared for possible future epidemic threats. The operation of the facility will become safer, which will enable the normal functioning of residents and employees.

The project has been planned for 12 months.  The University of Opole has allocated PLN 400,000 from its own funds and the subsidy from the Ministry of National Education budget is PLN 3, 220,000.
