Another FIT FORTHEM Project
The signing of the agreement took place in the office of the Rector of the University of Opole, in the presence of Dr Barbara Curyło, the coordinator of all activities under the FORTHEM programme and Prof. Katarzyna Molek-Kozakowska, who is responsible for the FIT FORTHEM project.
- The agreement that has just been signed is another step in the implementation of the great European programme in which the University of Opole takes part,' said the Rector of the University of Opole, Prof. Marek Masnyk, just after signing the document. - I am delighted that my brilliant colleagues have managed to finalise this agreement and obtain nearly EUR 300 000 for our University.
- I am very pleased that the FORTHEM alliance has obtained funds for the implementation of another project, under which our university will coordinate the information policy of the alliance, which is an important and strategic task,' emphasised Dr Curyło.
- I hope that we will be able to organise a number of interesting media events, publish many texts that will help to understand what FORTHEM is and how much we can benefit from belonging to it as a university and its students and employees - added Prof. Molek-Kozakowska.
FORTHEM
The FORTHEM alliance was established in September 2019 as a consortium of seven universities, which jointly won a prestigious grant in the Erasmus+ competition procedure. Its name comes from the English acronym for Fostering Outreach within European Regions, Transnational Higher Education and Mobility.
The main objective of the alliance was to expand the scope of student mobility, create a virtual campus, involve scientists in joint research projects in multi-disciplinary labs, organize joint initiatives for the social and economic environment of the university, and also institutionally integrate the universities more closely.
The alliance includes Johannes Gutenberg-Universität (Mainz, Germany), Université de Bourgogne (Dijon, France), Jyväskylän yliopisto (Jyvaskyla, Finland), University of Opole (Opole, Poland), Universita' degli Studi di Palermo (Palermo, Italy), Latvijas Universitāte (Riga, Latvia), and Universitat de València (Valencia, Spain).
FIT FORTHEM
The FIT FORTHEM project is financed from the Horizon 2020 programme and is another project of the FORTHEM alliance. Within the framework of FIT FORTHEM, the alliance has identified 8 work packages, i.e. areas of work which involve all partners but are coordinated by one. The UO coordinates the area related to the Alliance's information policy.
which will be the responsibility of Professor Katarzyna Molek-Kozakowska from the Institute of Linguistics of the UO.
FIT FORTHEM is to facilitate the development of common research and development policies, especially those concerning strategic research directions and "open science". Thanks to the funding, research projects already initiated by multidisciplinary FORTHEM labs will be continued and the integration of research centres will be supported. Partner universities are to find out about their best practices in the research and innovation sector and develop procedures to improve access to the infrastructure and resources of a given university for other partners This will help to cross the barriers resulting from local limitations, as well as facilitate the professional development of scientists and support research managers at faculties in making decisions on development strategies.
Both the authors of the application and coordinators of the FIT FORTHEM project are Prof. Katarzyna Molek-Kozakowska from the Institute of Linguistics of the UO and Dr Barbara Curyło from the Institute of Political and Administrative Sciences - coordinator of the FORTHEM alliance at the University of Opole.
