Our Scholars Publish Important Book

Robert Walser (1878-1956): Swiss writer creating in German, one of the most interesting and important representatives of European modernism. Author of several novels and many short pieces, in Poland known mainly from translations by Małgorzata Łukasiewicz. The book Spaziergänge auf dem Papier. Robert Walser in Polen (Strolls on the Paper. Robert Walser in Poland] is a collection of sketches devoted to this already iconic writer.

The concept of the volume was gradually developed among Walser's prose enthusiasts, gathered around two Polish university centres (in Poznań and Opole), and crystallised during an international scientific session held in October 2018 at the University of Opole.

While a considerable number of the texts originated in connection with that meeting and talks, others were written by people who joined the group of Walser's admirers after some time; the book also includes older texts by Jakub Ekier and Michał Paweł Markowski.
