Indecency, promiscuity, and debauchery in literature, art, and law
The conference was held from 10 to 11 May 2018.
The participants were addressed by Prof. Marek Masnyk, Rector of the University of Opole.
- It is a great pleasure for me to welcome you to our university, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2019, - said Prof. Masnyk. - Compared with the traditions of old esteemed universities, it is not very long, but we are very proud of what we have managed to achieve and build during that time, - he added.
Prof. Masnyk spoke about the history of our university, first about the Higher School of Pedagogy, then about the University of Opole. He also encouraged the guests to visit the University Hill, the Museum of the University of Opole and Opole, which in recent years has undergone a real transformation, as evidenced by the great construction site on Kopernika Square. - When it is finished, it will be a really beautiful place, - added the Rector.
He thanked the scientists from the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Law and Administration. - I am very pleased that our two faculties have joined forces to hold a conference on such an exciting subject. Suspense hangs in the air. I regret that my rector's duties do not allow me to listen to the debates, - he said.
During individual panels, the following topics were discussed: 'The Limits of Artistic Freedom in the Process of Organising an Exhibition', 'The Curator's Creative Freedom and the Personal Rights of the Author of the Works on Display', 'Questions on the limits of artistic freedom', 'Witchcraft as a Mortal Sin. The Hussite Perception of Witchcraft", "Foodporn - when food becomes pornography. A study of film cases', or 'To Dress a Libertine: Fashion and (A)Morality in the Last Quarter of the 18th Century".
The two-day conference was attended by 85 speakers from 6 countries (including Spain, Nigeria, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia) and also from Polish academic centres.
