Central European International Week
The University of Opole invites students and scholars to participate in the Central European International Week organised by the University of Opole on 16th – 20th April 2018.
The year 2018 is a special year for us as we expect colleagues from over 20 partner countries to visit us within the framework of Erasmus+ KA107 programme. We invite all students and academics to take part in modules and sessions of their liking.
Guest lectures by visiting professors:
The University of Opole runs several study programmes in English (hello.uni.opole.pl/study) in the disciplines ranging from humanities and social sciences to natural sciences. It will be our pleasure to invite faculty members to visit us and share their knowledge by giving our students lectures, workshops, or seminars.
Guest lectures will be scheduled upon registration (except for conference panels and workshops if chosen).

Seminars:
Located at the very centre of Europe, cooperating with many universities on the continent and beyond, the University of Opole strives to establish itself as a meeting point for prospective collaborators exchanging experiences, discussing good practices, and starting new research contacts.
For the purposes of seminars, the University of Opole provides stalls with tables and chairs where exhibitors can present their universities, departments, centres, research teams, projects, etc.
International Conference, 17 April 2018 -
Interdisciplinarity and Transdisciplinarity – Science for Society and Human Beings
We invite you to participate in a conference on the state of contemporary academia. The topics include the following:
- the (dis)advantages of interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity
- English as a lingua franca of academia; dominance of Anglo-American academic traditions
- local identities vs. globalization of science and academia
- new methods/technologies in academic teaching/research
- cultural diplomacy and higher education
Students and PhD candidates who would like to share their research projects and discuss them with experts are welcome to join the conference panel for students held on 18 April 2018.
To take part in the conference, please register through an online form and submit the topic of your proposed presentation with a short abstract by 1 April 2018. Papers accepted for the conference will not be longer than 15 minutes.
Conference proceedings shall be published in ‘Pogranicze. Polish Borderlands Studies’, an interdisciplinary on-line academic journal, funded and published by the Institute of Political Sciences, University of Opole. It is an open access journal publishing papers in Polish and English.
The participation in the conference is free of charge. The organizers can help arrange accommodation (paid by participants) at the university facilities or in town.
There will be a cultural programme and a possibility to arrange weekend trips before or after the International Week.
