The vernissage will take place on 24 March 2023, at 5 pm, at the ZPAP Gallery (Krakowska 1) in Opole.

The exhibition will run until 11th April.

"The exhibition of works I want to present at the Opole District ZPAP Gallery is related to my 40-year period of artistic creation after graduating from the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdańsk (now the Academy of Fine Arts) in 1983. I recall the time I spent in the studios of sculpture, ceramics and drawing with great fondness, therefore I will show a sculpture of a head, two ceramic forms and a drawing, which were created during my education in the years 1978 - 83 at the abovementioned academy.

The exhibition will also include works in sculpture (wood, bronze, synthetic resins), bronze relief, and drawing and painting.  To briefly refer to the stylistics of my works - it is figuration.

The human being is the main medium in a transposed form, whose roots go back to the Cubist and organic abstraction sculptural period.  I show works that have their semantic basis in human values, fragility, doubt, faith, etc.

The exhibition will consist of about 50 works - a cross-sectional selection, but mostly created after the exhibition at the same Gallery in 2018 (now on two floors)."

Marian Molenda

In Marian Molenda's sculptures I discover a world of pure form, an abstract play of masses, hidden vectors of force, perceptible energy connections, tension directions, and contrasts. I follow the professionalism of these activities, thinking of sculpture as a technical discipline,  whose basic axioms cannot go beyond the principle of physical form, the principle of centre,  fullness, the totality of structure and construction, and finally, respect for the material.
