UO in top 10 universities in Poland and 30th in the overall ranking of higher education institutions!

For another year in a row, our university is moving up in the most prestigious Polish ranking of higher education institutions, prepared by the Educational Foundation Perspektywy, taking the 30th place in the group of nearly one hundred surveyed institutions.  

A year ago we were ranked 38th, in 2020 - 40th, which was a result better by eight positions compared to 2019. We should mention that in 2018 we were ranked 60th, so within four years we made a jump of as many as thirty positions!

 Our university also saw a marked improvement in its position in the university ranking - in 2019 we were 16th, in 2020 - 14th, in 2021 - 11th, and in this year's ranking - 9th.

This is a great progress, and what pleases us the most is the fact that it is systematic - every year we perform better and better in the Perspektywy ranking.  

Regular improvement of the University of Opole position in the ranking is the result of modern thinking about the university, work and commitment of the entire academic community - say the university authorities. 

The ranking also includes a classification according to various criteria. Thus, in terms of Publications we took first place! In the Scientific Effectiveness category, we are in 7th place! In the Internationalisation category, we ranked 19th.

The ranking also includes a classification of study programmes. The humanities at our university scored very well: language studies in the 10th place, Polish Studies in 13th, English Studies in 14th, History in 15th, and Cultural Studies in 9th.

Social sciences were also scored well, e.g. Sociology, Political Science and Security Studies were ranked 9th, and Psychology - 11th.

Slightly lower places were taken by economics, science and natural sciences programmes, but everywhere we are practically in the middle or close to it.

The Rector, Prof. Marek Mansyk, is very satisfied with the results of this year's ranking.

“This result has been earned by everyone at the university, starting from rectors through employees of all levels, in teaching, research as well as administration, said the rector. “The progress is clear and there is no coincidence. Already last year I spoke about the chances of moving up several places and this has been confirmed.
 The results of the ranking strongly signal that the changes we made at the university in 2019 were the right ones. I remember doubts and heated discussions about the reorganisation. Today, it is clear that the path of changes was a good one. I hope this will be confirmed by the results of the evaluation, which we should know in a few days. A good place in the ranking confirms the very important role we play in the region, being a forge of personnel for education, administration, culture and local government units. I know that rankings are subject to various opinions; some belittle them, others treat them seriously, but I believe that they are - especially the most serious ranking of Perspektywy - an objective evaluation of the place and strength of the university in the socio-economic environment and its place on the educational and scientific map.  I am delighted with the first place of our university in the Publications category, we also did well in the Internationalisation category, which was definitely influenced by our participation in the FORTHEM and FITFORTHEM alliances. We can only be pleased with such a good result in the ranking of the Perspektywy foundation and wish ourselves further progress,” - concluded the rector.
