Interdisciplinary seminar on gender equality coming up

Scholars representing archaeology, economics, environmental engineering, linguistics, health sciences, political science, psychology, sociology and the arts will organise the seminar ‘The importance of the gender dimension in scientific research and social practice’, which will take place on 3 December 2024 in the Blue Hall of the Collegium Maius.

The event will combine theoretical and practical perspectives. Speakers will address topics such as the invisibility of women in science and art, the importance of the gender dimension in the methodology of scientific research or the inclusion of a gender perspective in urban planning.

Gender identification, sexual violence and physical health, everyday language and its impact on scientific communication, as well as psychological and gender aspects will be discussed as well. There will also be a discussion on the gender dimension in applying for European funding for science and innovation.

The speakers include Prof. Anna Tabisz, Dr Magdalena Ozimek-Hanslik, Dr Magdalena Przysiężna-Pizarska, Dr Magdalena Piejko-Płonka, Michał Kozłowski, Prof. Katarzyna Molek-Kozakowska, Prof. Dominika Malchar-Michalska, Dr Rafał Gerymski, Grzegorz Hussak, Dr Natalia Krawczyk, Katarzyna Preuhs, Alicja Bulak, Kacper Kozdraś, Karolina Pisz, Dr Joanna Latała-Matysiak, Dr Agata Mroczek and Dr Marzanna Pogorzelska.

The seminar will be organised by: The Faculty of Philology, the Institute of Linguistics, the Faculty Proxy for Equality and Diversity and the Student Research Group ‘Onoma’. The lectures will be available to attend in person, in the Blue Hall of the Collegium Maius, as well as online – via the Microsoft Teams platform.
