Vice-Rector Daniel Pietrek at Internationalisation Congress in Poznań

Science diplomacy was the subject of the 3rd Congress of Internationalisation, attended by Prof. Daniel Pietrek, Vice-Rector for Research. The event took place on 4–5 December 2025 at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.

One of the most important elements of contemporary international policy in higher education and science is science diplomacy. Congress participants discussed its presence in study curricula, its application in research projects, and its role in promoting Polish science abroad. They also talked about safety and ethics in science, as well as the role of public institutions in developing international partnerships.

The conference programme included plenary sessions, inter alia on the National Strategy for the Internationalisation of Science and Higher Education, as well as expert panels, including a discussion entitled ‘How to effectively develop science diplomacy and the internationalisation of Polish science?’. Participants could also take part in workshops and accompanying events, ch as a screening of the film ‘Polarniczki’ about the work of Polish researchers in the Arctic and Antarctic.

To date, the Internationalisation Congress has been held three times. On each occasion, it was part of the project ‘Strategy for the internationalisation of Polish higher education and science’ financed by the European Funds for Social Development programme.
