UO in top ten universities in Poland

The University of Opole maintains its position among the top national universities – in the Perspektywy University Ranking 2025, it was ranked 9th among full universities and 29th among HEIs in Poland.

This is not only a source of pride, but also a clear signal that the course of action taken by the University has brought about measurable results. In the university rankings, the University of Opole has been listed among the best academic centres in the country, alongside such institutions as the University of Warsaw, the Jagiellonian University, the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the University of Gdańsk and the University of Wrocław.

Although last year the University of Opole was ranked slightly higher (8th place in the university ranking and 26th among HEIs), this year’s result, considered in the context of the dynamics of events concerning higher education in our country, continues to be a source of great satisfaction for us. We remain the clear leader in the region.

It is worth to note areas of scientific activity at the University of Opole that stand out and significantly influence its final position in the ranking. The University ranked third in the country in terms of publication criteria (number of internationally renowned publications in relation to the number of employees), which proves the high quality and intensity of scientific research conducted at the University. In addition, 5th place in the scientific effectiveness category and 20th place in terms of internationalisation confirm the University’s significant research potential and growing presence on the international stage.

‘Maintaining our position among the top Polish universities is proof that our development strategy is effective,’ says Prof. Jacek Lipok, Rector of the UO. ‘Thanks to such rankings, we feel confident that the chosen course of action is the right one. This is a huge incentive for all of us to continue our work, but also an encouragement to keep improving what can and should be improved.

It is not only the university’s overall position that is a cause for celebration – in the ranking of study programmes, the University of Opole can boast excellent results for many of its programmes. Seven of them were ranked in the top ten in their categories:

    • Political Science – 4th place (Social Sciences)
    • Cosmetology – 6th place (Medical and Health Sciences)
    • Theology – 6th place (Theology)
    • Polish Philology – 8th place (Humanities)
    • Computer Science (Master’s degree) – 9th place (Exact Sciences)
    • Journalism and Communication – 10th place (Social Sciences)

The Perspektywy University Ranking has been prepared for the 26th time by the Perspektywy Educational Foundation. It covers all HEIs (public and non-public) authorised to award doctoral degrees and educating at least 300 full-time students. The ranking includes HEIs that have had at least two years of graduates. This is one of the most prestigious and reliable educational rankings in Poland.

The final result for each university is based on factors such as scientific effectiveness (30%), internationalisation (15%), scientific potential (13%), prestige (12%), position of graduates on the labour market (12%), educational conditions (10%) and innovation (8%).
