UO implements project worth 2 million zloties

The University of Opole implements the project ‘Supporting the actions of the University of Opole in the FORTHEM Alliance of European Universities’.


The aim of the project is to increase the internationalisation of the university by intensifying academic exchange and international cooperation, also in the field of education. The project is headed by Prof. Rafał Matwiejczuk, Vice-Rector for Development and Finance and is addressed at students, PhD students, early stage researchers and other employees of the UO and FORTHEM partner universities. It started on 1st October 2025 and will last till 30th September 2026.


The project includes the following tasks:

1. Organisation of exchanges of 35 students, doctoral students and staff of institutions: Implementation of staff mobility between FORTHEM Alliance universities.

2. Participation in study visits, traineeships, summer/winter schools, seminars, workshops, trainings or intensive courses, conferences, including international ones: Enabling the scientific development of early stage researchers. It will involve at least 6 participants.  

3. Participation in study visits, traineeships, summer schools/winter schools, seminars, workshops, trainings or intensive courses, conferences, including international ones: Improving the competences of the staff of the University of Opole. About 28 administrative employees and early-stage researchers will participate in this task.

4. Development of modern teaching materials: Preparation and implementation of courses in the Digital Academy. The courses published on the Moodle platform (Digital Academy).

5. Development or preparation of new and innovative learning tools and methods, including support for the implementation of international study programmes (leading to joint, double, or multiple degree programmes or microcredentials): Implementation and intensification of the Team-Teaching action of academic teachers of the University of Opole with representatives of other FORTHEM Alliance universities. The task will require cooperation of UO academic teachers with representatives of other HEIs of the FORTHEM Alliance.

6. Support of legal and organisational actions to develop joint, double or multiple degree programmes and microcredentials: Development and implementation of a procedure for the functioning of microcredentials at the University of Opole.

7. Organisation of conferences, incl. international ones: Organisation of an international scientific conference ‘European Universities as actors of informal and scientific diplomacy’.

8. Promotion of the education offer and image building in the international educational market: Promotion of the University of Opole and the FORTHEM Alliance through the participation of UO representatives in the EAIE fair.

9. Organisation of conferences, incl. international ones: Organisation of a student conference as part of the ‘Student Influencers’ initiative. At least 27 students will participate in the conference.

10. Preparation and dissemination of joint scientific publications: Support of international research teams within FORTHEM Labs. As a result of this task nine joint scientific papers will published in prestigious international journals.

11. Improving the quality of education and research: Support for the implementation of a Virtual Research Joint Office at the University of Opole.


The project will result in strengthening the position of the University of Opole as a key partner in the FORTHEM Alliance.

The project team has almost 2 mln zloties at their disposal.
