Researchers from UO making films within Spotlight summer school in Bucharest

The Spotlight summer school is underway at the University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest (UNATC). Its participants conduct research and make documentary films on interspecies relations in urban spaces. By doing so, they learn how to use visual methods in social research.

An interdisciplinary scientific seminar on the subject is being held at the Cinetic UNATC centre in Bucharest. The programme includes film screenings and discussions at the University of Bucharest. It is led by Clara Kleininger-Wanik and Dr Michał Wanke from the Chair of Cultural and Religious Studies at the University of Opole – organisers of the Spotlight summer school.

This is the fourth edition of this event, which is co-organised by the University of Opole (Poland), the Free University of Bolzano (Italy) and New Europe College in Bucharest (Romania), and is funded by the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland). The Spotlight summer school attracts participants from all over Europe.

The films made during the visit to Romania will be screened on October 6, 2025, at 7 p.m. at the National Centre for Polish Song in Opole. The meeting will be part of the 23rd Opole Film Festival, which will run from 3 to 11 October. Viewers will have a unique chance to talk to the filmmakers after the presentation.
