Grzegorz Hussak wins Silver Winner TIFA award and qualifies for exhibition in Trieste

In just two days, Grzegorz Hussak from the Faculty of Art at the University of Opole received a prestigious award in the Tokyo International Foto Awards (TIFA) and qualified for the Urban Photo Awards international exhibition.

In the TIFA competition, Grzegorz Hussak received the Silver Winner award in the ‘Analogue/Film – Architecture Photography’ category. The photograph that the jury appreciated is a black-and-white, minimalist shot of architecture, in which the strong contrast gives the form a unique intensity.

In this case, the artist did not focus on the functionality of the building, but on its shape, lines and rhythm. The structure became a pure image, a composition of light and shadow, an almost abstract arrangement of forms that we can almost physically feel. It is worth noting that in September, the same photograph was commended at the Global Photography Awards 2025.

As for the Urban Photo Awards competition, it is an open event and photographers from all over the world can participate. The theme is ‘Urban Life / Urban Photography’, i.e. city life. It is about shots showing the city, architecture, urban space, contrasts and everyday life in cities and towns. The competition is organised by the dotART association, based in Trieste, Italy.
