Admissions Step by Step

The candidate shall find a potential supervisor or supervisors in the discipline in which education at the UO Doctoral School is conducted.

When submitting the documents, the candidate should submit a written consent of a potential supervisor/s, together with their declaration regarding the number of doctoral students they supervise.

Scientific supervision over a doctoral student may be provided by:

  • supervisor
  • more than one supervisor
  • supervisor and auxiliary supervisor

Declarations forms:

Supervisor – Declaration of a potential supervisor (.doc)
Auxiliary supervisor – Declaration of a potential auxiliary supervisor (.docx)

The list of potential supervisors who are employees of the University of Opole, along with the research topics they propose, can be found on the admissions page, in the “Offer” tab.

The supervisor may be an employee of another university, including a foreign university, provided that they meet the requirements set out in the Act on Higher Education and Science and the Rules of the Doctoral School of the UO.

The candidate registers his account in the Internet Candidate Registration (IRK) system (https://rekrutacja.uni.opole.pl) and applies for a place of his choice in a specific discipline, in accordance with the limit set for a given year.

The candidate may enter the admissions procedure only for one place included in the list of places awarded to individual scientific disciplines in which enrolment to the Doctoral School is conducted, determined by a regulation of the Rector of the University of Opole.

The limit of admissions to the Doctoral School for the 2023-2027 cycle is set by the Regulation of the Rector of the University of Opole No. 38/2023 of 28 April 2023.
Individual disciplines have been allocated 3 places each.

The candidate submits documents to the Admissions Committee of the Doctoral School.

Documents in paper version, within the time limit specified in the admissions schedule, shall be submitted by the candidate in person at the Office of the Doctoral School, or in the manner specified in Article 57(5) of the Act of June 14, 1960 – Code of Administrative Procedure (uniform text, Journal of Laws of 2020, item 256, as amended), in particular, the candidate sends the documents by the designated operator pursuant to the Act of 23 November 2012 – Postal Law (uniform text, Journal of Laws of 2018, item 2188, as amended).

The Admissions Committee verifies the submitted documents and admits candidates to the admissions procedure.

Qualified to the admissions procedure may be a candidate who has set up an individual account in the IRK and has submitted all the required documents within the time and place specified in the admissions procedure schedule.

If submitted documents are incomplete, the Chairperson of the Committee calls the candidate to complete them within 7 days from the date of delivery of the summons. Failure to comply with this obligation within the set period will leave the candidate’s application without consideration, and thus prevent the candidate from participating in the admissions procedure.

Documents submitted after the deadline specified in the admissions procedure schedule shall be returned to the candidate without considering.

The Admissions Committee informs the candidates about the dates and place of interviews on individual accounts in the IRK and on the website of the University of Opole.

The Admissions Committee conducts interviews with the candidates.

The Admissions Committee notifies the candidates about the results of the admissions procedure on individual accounts in the IRK.

Admission to the Doctoral School takes place by way of entry on the list of doctoral students, which is made by the chairman of the Committee on behalf of the Rector.

The list is published in the “Admissions results” tab in the IRK and on the website of the University of Opole.

Refusal of admission to the Doctoral School takes place by way of an administrative decision, issued by the chairman of the committee on behalf of the Rector.

The candidate is entitled to submit a request for reconsideration of the refusing decision to the Rector, through the chairman of the committee, within 14 days from the date of delivery of the decision.

The basis for the application for reconsideration of the case may only be an indication of the violation of the conditions and procedure of admissions to the Doctoral School, as defined by the resolution of the Senate of the University of Opole. The Rector shall consider the request within 30 days from the date of its submission. Before issuing the decision, the Rector gets acquainted with the opinion of the Admissions Committee. The Rector’s decision is final.

The candidate obtains the status of a doctoral student upon taking the oath during the ceremonial inauguration of the academic year.

The detailed conditions and procedure of admissions are specified in Resolution No. 249/2016-2020 of the Senate of the University of Opole of March 19, 2020 (consolidated text of March 30. 2021).
