Continuing a tradition from previous years, the University of Opole has donated a miniature of the Wojciech Młynarski statue to be auctioned for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. Its full-size version stands on the University Hill just outside the Collegium Maius building at 11 Kopernika Square.
The author of the sculpture is Professor Marian Molenda, from the Faculty of Art at the University of Opole. The professor has presented the artist sitting opposite Agnieszka Osiecka, with whom he seems to be engaged in a lively discussion.
Marian Molenda also made a miniature sculpture, which the UO donated to the GOCC auction. The replica is made from patinated plaster in 2017, reproducing the original at a scale of 1:5. Its dimensions are 27x19x7 cm. You can bid for this work until 10 February 2025 on the Allegro website.
Wojciech Młynarski was a poet, singer and lyricist of many well-known Polish songs. He wrote the words to songs such as: ‘Jesteśmy na wczasach’, ‘Jeszcze w zielone gramy’, ‘Prześliczna wiolonczelistka’, ‘Oh, ty w życiu’, ‘ Niedziela na Głównym’, ‘Róbmy swoje’ and ‘Nie ma jak u mama’.
His songs have been performed by the most famous Polish singers and bands: Michał Bajor, Ewa Bem, Krzysztof Krawczyk, Alicja Majewska, Krystyna Prońko, Maryla Rodowicz, Zbigniew Wodecki, Maciej Maleńczuk, Andrzej Zaucha, Skaldowie, and the band 2 plus 1, and in recent years also by an artist of the younger generation, Daria Zawiałow.
In previous years, it was also possible to bid for replicas of statues of Jeremi Przybora and Jerzy Wasowski, Czesław Niemen, and Jonasz Kofta. Their full-size versions can also be found on the University Hill.
The auction will run until 10th February 2025.
