The event, hosted by the University of Opole, attracted visitors from across the region and beyond. It took place on 29 November 2024 and was hosted in the University building at 48 Oleska Street, in the Student Cultural Centre and on the UO campus.
During the Fair, secondary school students, teachers, school heads and parents received full information about the 2025 secondary school final exams and university admissions rules. The stands of the University of Opole and thirteen other universities were waiting for them, and everyone could take part in seminars with their representatives and experts from the Regional Examination Board in Wrocław.
The topics discussed at the stands included educational offers, admissions rules and study conditions. This was intended to make it easier for young people to decide what education and career path to take. Another objective was the promotion of future-oriented fields of study and the opportunity to get to know the academic environment ‘in real life’. In addition, during the seminars, participants could discuss how to pass the final examinations and what examiners pay attention to.
Moreover, secondary school students were able to visit as many as fifteen thematic zones, prepared by the faculties, the UO Academic Sports Association and the fair’s partners. The zones featured sports, medicine, army, media, time, arts, chemistry, investigations, languages, economics, society, reflection, maths and physics, and health. Taken together, they all showed how diverse the University of Opole is.
A special attraction was the military zone, where secondary school students could learn about what the army had to offer and see specialist equipment. The zone was co-created by: 1st Brzeg Regiment of Sappers, 10th Opole Logistics Brigade, 3rd Silesian Brigade of Territorial Defence named after Lt. Col. Tadeusz Puszczyński, alias ‘Konrad Wawelberg’, and the Military Recruitment Centre in Opole
Naturally, as many as twelve zones were prepared by twelve faculties of the UO. The following faculties function at our university: Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Philology, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, Faculty of Political Science and Social Communication, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Law and Administration, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology, Faculty of Art and Faculty of Theology.
The Honorary Committee of the Opole Education Fair included: Professor Jacek Lipok – Rector of the University of Opole and Chair of that Committee, Monika Jurek – Voivode of the Opole Voivodeship, Arkadiusz Wiśniewski – Mayor of Opole, Szymon Ogłaza – Marshall of the Opole Voivodeship, Piotr Świędrych – Director of the Regional Examination Board in Wrocław, and Joanna Raźniewska – Opole Schools Superintendent.
In turn, the Perspektywy Foundation’s nationwide campaign ‘Salon Maturzystów 2024’ [Education Fair 2024], of which the event in Opole was a part, was held this year under the auspices of an honorary committee composed of Barbara Nowacka – Minister of Education, Dariusz Wieczorek – Minister of Science, Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska – President of CRASP, and Bianka Siwińska – President of ‘Perspektywy’. RMF MAXX was the exclusive radio patron of the event.
