In Bangalore, the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka, the University of Opole concluded an agreement with the Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram (DVK) Pontifical Athenaeum of Philosophy and Theology. This cooperation agreement was signed by the Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Rev. Prof. Mateusz Rafał Potoczny, on behalf of the Rector of the UO, Prof. Jacek Lipok.
The DVK was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Fr. Sebastian Mullooparambil CMI and Dr Joy Philip Kakkanatty CMI, President of DVK. The signing ceremony took place on 27 January 2025. The bilateral agreement between the UO and DVK is the culmination of many years of informal cooperation between the UO Faculty of Theology and research centres in India.
‘The subject of the agreement is cooperation in scientific and educational research in fields of common interest,’ emphasises Prof. Potoczny. It covers, inter alia, the exchange of scientific information, literature, textbooks, curricula and publications issued by both institutions.
Under the agreement, it will also be possible to discuss research results at joint meetings, seminars and conferences, and to issue joint publications. The agreement also provides for exchanges of researchers and students to conduct research projects, guest lectures and seminars.
In connection with the signed agreement, Dean Potoczny invited his Indian partners to Opole. The opportunity for the visit is to be a week-long scientific seminar planned for next year.
