About CRUP

The Conference of Rectors of Universities in Poland was established by rectors of universities at the convention in Krakow on February 16, 1989. It was a response of the academic community to the adoption of the Magna Charter of the European Universities in Bologna on 18 September 1988. The idea of establishing the Conference on the eve of Poland regaining its full independence refers to the initiative of the "Solidarity" period, when rectors at the meeting in Poznan on December 5, 1981 appointed the Conference of Rectors of HEIs. The aim of the Conference, being an autonomous assembly of rectors, is to strengthen cooperation between universities in order to meet the challenges of the present and future. KRUP develops and presents opinions and positions on issues important for the development of Polish science, higher education, culture and education, cooperating with the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland.
