Prof. Marek Masnyk Elected Vice-President of CRUP
Prof. Masnyk will be one of the two - alongside Prof. Ryszard Koziołek from the University of Silesia - Vice-Presidents of CRUP in the term of 2020-2024. This is a great honour for our university and for its Rector.
At the first meeting in Warsaw on 25 September 2020, the Conference of Rectors of Universities in Poland elected its Presidium. The work of KRUP in this term of office will be headed by Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (the election of the President of CRUP for the term 2020-2024 took place in July).
The Vice-Presidents of the Conference are: Rector of the University of Opole Prof. Marek Masnyk and Rector of the University of Silesia Prof. Ryszard Koziołek. The duties of the Secretary will be performed by Prof. Marek Kręglewski (UAM).
On behalf of the academic community, we congratulate Prof. Marek Masnyk, the new Vice-Chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Universities in Poland, and wish him fruitful work in a prestigious and responsible position.
The Conference of Rectors of Universities in Poland was established by rectors of universities at the convention in Krakow on February 16, 1989. It was a response of the academic community to the adoption of the Magna Charter of the European Universities in Bologna on 18 September 1988. The idea of establishing the Conference on the eve of Poland regaining its full independence refers to the initiative of the "Solidarity" period, when rectors at the meeting in Poznan on December 5, 1981 appointed the Conference of Rectors of HEIs. The aim of the Conference, being an autonomous assembly of rectors, is to strengthen cooperation between universities in order to meet the challenges of the present and future. KRUP develops and presents opinions and positions on issues important for the development of Polish science, higher education, culture and education, cooperating with the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland.
