The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has decided to earmark 32 million zlotys for the opening of the medical studies at the University of Opole. At the press conference, Marcin Ociepa, President of the Opole City Council, said that the University would receive the money over the next three years but the first 15 million zlotys would be donated next year.
The total cost of the project is 42 million zlotys, 8 million of which is the own contribution of the University. ‘These numbers and the declaration of the Ministery show how important this project is, not only for the University, but for the whole region’ - said Prof. Marek Masnyk, Rector of the UO. ‘Over the coming weeks we will select the contractor for the project and the work will be launched in January. We are planning to complete the first stage within 9 months, and the whole project is to be finished within three years. We are determined to admit first students in the academic year 2017/2018’ - announced the Rector.

‘We want to create such an educational project in the field of health care, which will be constantly developed, and medical school is just the beginning. I am convinced that in a few years’ time we will also educate pharmacists or dentists here’ - said Prof. Masnyk.
