If you want to get to know a Central European language and culture, or if you want to do your MA or PhD in Europe and if you want to communicate effectively in Polish and English in order to work in Europe or for a multinational company abroad, the Polish Studies are a good choice for you.

 Why study in Poland?

It is a Central-European, well-developed, nice and picturesque country. You will have excellent airplane and train connections to other European destinations you can see during a weekend break (Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Paris, London, Rome, etc.).

The cost of staying in Poland is relatively low whereas the standards are high. The food is very good and mostly organic.

 Why study in Opole?

Opole is a cosy, quiet, very safe, and friendly city where you will enjoy studying, with positive energy and enough opportunities to go out when you feel like doing it, but it is also a place where you can relax and rest if you want to focus on your studies.

 Why study Polish?

It is the sixth language of the European Union by speakers as percentage of the EU population, spoken by more than 45 million people, where 38 million live in Poland.

It is expanding around the world. Poles have travelled and migrated for centuries, so you can meet them nearly everywhere.

The knowledge of Polish will open your eyes and ears to other related Slavonic languages, e.g. Czech and Slovak, Russian, Belarussian and Ukrainian, Slovene, Serbian, Croatian, Macedonian and Bulgarian.

We have borrowings from Latin, Greek, Czech, German, French, Italian but also from Turkish, Mongolian, Hungarian, Romanian, Yiddish, etc. There are words in our vocabulary the Germans will recognize easily, e.g. dach, blacha, jarmark, gmach, ratusz. The Italians will have no problem with understanding such Polish words as gracja, pomidor, kalafior or autostrada, the French with bagaż, bilet, bukiet, romans, wizyta and the English: trener, komputer, biznesmen, folder, mikser, relaks, keczup, and many more.
